Hotel Engine is Hiring a Remote Corporate Controller (REMOTE)

We are seeking a Corporate Controller that is excited to lead and develop a team of accountants in a high-growth, dynamic environment. This position will oversee Corporate Accounting, Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Equity and Credit. Our Corporate controller will oversee the month-end and quarter-end close and reporting processes, drive process improvements, implement key Accounting software for scale, design/implement critical controls in compliance with SOX, and hire/develop world class Accounting. This position will also work with key cross-functional leaders to drive results. This position will report directly to the VP of Finance.

Here's What You’ll Need to be Successful in this Role

  • Lead and manage: Corporate Accounting, Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Equity and Credit
  • Lead the month-end and quarter-end close processes, with the key goals of driving close time down while maintaining the highest degree of accuracy and integrity
  • Design, implement and operationalize system and process improvements
  • “Make the news” vs. “report the news” by collaborating with our Finance team and other business partners to explain performance fluctuations to management and departmental leadership, alongside recommendations for actions that drive successful outcomes
  • Develop a team of future accounting leaders through talent development, training, and mentoring of individuals, as well as staffing and recruiting of necessary skill sets
  • Partner cross-functionally to help drive international expansion as we move from a US-only software business, to a global brand name in travel technology
  • Lead the execution of external audits, tax assessments, and other key third-party led Accounting initiatives.

Education & Experience:

  • 10 years of experience in progressively larger Accounting leadership roles
  • 4 years in a senior management experience or in a Controller role, with a demonstrated record of success
  • Big 4 public accounting or large regional firm experience preferred
  • CPA required
  • Experience scaling the Accounting function at a high-growth, fast-paced technology business
  • Experience designing, implementing and operationalizing Finance & Accounting software that drives faster monthly/quarterly close, higher accuracy and non-linear organizational scale. Experience using NetSuite a plus
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with colleagues across the entire organization, and at all levels
  • Proven ability to implement critical Accounting and SOX controls
  • Demonstrated experience leading team(s) to successful outcomes, by consistently achieving business objectives and by building high performing teams through skill and competency development
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented, hands-on, player-coach with the ability to take the initiative and work independently and proactively, multi-task and remain flexible with changing priorities
  • In addition to embodying Hotel Engine’s DNA, this position must lead with empathy and foster a culture of feedback
  • Expert knowledge of current GAAP and SOX/internal controls required
