Department: Guest Services
Supervisor Title: General Manager
Job Summary: Transport guests in a prompt, friendly and courteous manner, using safe driving practices.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Comprehend and abide by all traffic regulations while transporting customers to and from the airport terminal or other designated site.
  • Lift luggage, packages and boxes from cars, buses, vans and carts, placing items on the ground, onto baggage carts, conveyors or other vehicles.
  • Listen, understand and respond immediately to customer and employee inquiries and requests for assistance. Greet customers with a friendly and sincere welcome.
  • Remain calm and alert especially during emergencies or heavy hotel activity and handles complications from driving in the local community.
  • Clearly communicate the features, and services of the hotel facilities.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.
  • Maintain an alert and attentive demeanor.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the hotel van by cleaning and washing it, when appropriate.
  • Take van for periodic servicing and fueling, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned, such as assisting as door person or bell captain, when necessary.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Walking, climbing stairs frequently
Crouching/bending/stooping frequently
Reaching frequently
Grasping frequently
Pushing/pulling frequently
Hearing constantly
Talking constantly
Lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.
OTHER DUTIES
Demonstrate working knowledge of the service standards. Regular attendance in conformance with the standards is essential to the successful performance of this position.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing English sufficient to ascertain and document appropriate pick-up and drop off points, etc.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger.
  • Ability to read English language to ascertain information from luggage tags, claim checks and to identify specific airline/customer pick-up and drop-off points and street signs.
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or otherwise move packages, boxes and luggage weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity in one hand to be able to load and unload luggage.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:
Must have a valid drivers license, proof of insurance and pass as approved driver.
CPR Certification and/or First Aid Training preferred.
GROOMING/UNIFORMS
All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance. Specific uniform guidelines and/or required articles of clothing will be explained to you as a part of the orientation process.
Notice:
The hotel business operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Due to this, it may be necessary to move associates from their accustomed shifts to conform to the demands of the hotel and our guests. In addition, this is the hospitality business and a hospitality service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with all rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities. Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subjected to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
