Hospice of the North Coast is Hiring a Staff Acountant - Full Time Near Carlsbad, CA

JOIN A TEAM THAT IS COMPACT IN SIZE, YET LARGE OF HEART

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Staff Accountant position performs accounting and clerical functions relating to medical billing, collections, accounts payable, cash disbursements, general ledger, and payroll.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High school diploma required. Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field preferred.

Experience:

1 to 2 years of experience in general ledger, accounts payable, payroll or billing functions. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Nonprofit and/or healthcare organization experience preferred.

Core Competencies:

10 key by touch. Must be detail oriented. Effective communication skills. Strong analytical skills. MS office.

FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBLITIES:

  1. Performs data entry into accounting system.
  2. Responsible for accounts payable system to include coding and entering invoices, reconciling vendor statements, and cash disbursements.
  3. Medical Billing and Collections
  4. Journal Entries
  5. Balance Sheet reconciliations
  6. Preparation of sales and use tax returns.
  7. Payroll
  8. Finance related special projects

  6. Develops knowledge and skills applicable to their role and responsibilities on an on-going basis. Sets own development challenges and volunteers to learn. Takes initiative by seeking greater responsibility and following through appropriately.
  7. Complies with the hospice policies and procedures, laws and regulations, standards of practice, and established work rules. Attends and participates positively in meetings, workgroups and projects.
  8. Adheres to the highest standards of professional and personal conduct in the performance of his/her duties. Develops cooperation and collaborative work efforts that generally benefit all involved parties.
  9. Maintains agency property, supplies and equipment in a manner that demonstrates ownership and accountability.
  10. Maintains professional licensure/certification, as applicable. Maintains current personnel file information and provides information to agency in timely manner
  11. Perform job to 100% of the standards of the Hospice of the North Coast Way 100% of the time.
