Summary of Job Responsibilities

The Communications Specialist helps the organization by managing all internal and external communication. This position must utilize skills including team-based interaction, project management, and goal setting. This position reports to the Director of Development with a dotted-line relationship with the President/CEO of Harbor Hospice. This position participates in the marketing budget process, drafts media statements, writes, and edits the newsletter, develops, and implements a communication strategy that includes media outreach and social media content creation. This position also supports the organizations special events.

  14. Monitor the organization’s social media and online presence
  15. Recommend techniques to improve the organization’s public image
  16. Align organization’s brand with all marketing and promotional items
  17. Recognize and promote organization through public relations initiatives
  18. Provide support to Director of Development when media and public inquiries arise
  19. Essential time management and organizational skills


Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field
  2. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in writing and editing
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  4. Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines
  5. Highly computer literate
  6. Content writing experience for all media platforms
  7. Proven social media and networking expertise
  8. Strategic and creative mindset
  9. Meticulous attention to detail
