Hospice Care Plus is Hiring a Durable Medical Equipment Technician Near Crab Orchard, KY

Excellent benefits, including 31 days of paid time off annually! This position works with and has the support of a DME team, which oversees the medical equipment needs of hospice patients and families.

The Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Technician delivers and picks-up DME for hospice patients, assists the DME Manager with maintenance and cleaning of the equipment, and takes on-call in rotation with the rest of the DME team. Responsibilities include:

  • Receives and processes requests for DME in a timely, professional, and effective manner
  • Delivers equipment and follows up on patient needs
  • Covers call, including up to two weekends per month for DME in conjunction with other staff (holiday call is split between the DME Technician and the DME Manager)
  • Processes pick-up, cleaning, and re-stocking of equipment
  • Maintains DME and troubleshoots equipment problems
  • Serves as a resource person for employees, patients, and patients' families in regards to DME issues
  • Completes job-specific documentation in a timely and effective manner, ensuring dissemination of information
  • Assists with set-up for special events (furnishings, equipment)

Position Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent (GED)
  • One year of medical equipment or driving experience preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to function as a team member
  • Current Kentucky driver’s license and unlimited access to a reliable automobile with appropriate insurance
  • All employees must have the ability to lift and/or move a minimum of 40 pounds using proper body mechanics and safety measures. Individual job responsibilities may require lifting more than 40 pounds on occasion.
  • Employees are regularly required to see, talk, and hear; frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands; and to handle, finger, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
