Description
YOUR PURPOSE
Perform transactional duties to serve members by receiving or paying out funds with high accuracy. Maintain accurate transactional records. Provide cash receipt and payment services in accordance with credit union policies and procedures. Present and explain a basic number of credit union products and services to members. This position requires an ability to communicate effectively with prospective and current members and to represent the credit union positively and professionally. Courses and/or training may be required.
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Member Service
  • Responsible for ensuring that each member interaction creates a positive member experience while providing relevant solutions to improve the financial and personal well-being of the member
  • Greet and welcome members to the credit union in a courteous, professional, and timely manner. Provide prompt, consistent service to meet exceptional member expectations. Through direct eye contact, positive body language, and the use of member names throughout the transaction
  • Protect the integrity and confidentiality of our membership by identifying individuals and verifying member/account ownership to ensure proper access is upheld
  • Possess knowledge of the Business Continuity Plan within your area of responsibility and be able to complete necessary duties when system interruption occurs
  • Following proper procedures as outlined in the Branch Operations Manual and abide by policies, process member transactions while creating a positive member experience
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of consumer and business products and services to consistently and confidently discuss features and benefits with the members to deepen member relationships through positive interactions
  • Participate as a member of the Horizon team by engaging in team meetings, and actively contribute to high standards of quality member service, internal operations, branch growth, and profitability of Horizon Credit Union
  • Uphold Horizon Credit Union's CORE values, (Capability, Optimism, Responsibility, Empathy) when interacting with all individuals
  • Consistently balance checks and cash drawer to comply with Horizon's balancing standards. As needed, support other staff members with balancing to research and resolve discrepancies. Report any discrepancy to the supervisor as required
  • Process share drafts/checks for deposit to accounts. Examine share drafts/checks for proper endorsement and negotiability. Place holds on accounts for uncollected funds and abide by individual check limits
  • Transactions involving cash, verify amounts by utilizing the three-count rule and detailing cash within the core system. To includes cashing share drafts/checks and processing withdrawals and/or deposits
  • Receive consumer loans, home loans, and other payments, and ensure accuracy when posting to the computer
  • Scan daily work and perform such other teller functions as necessary for branch operation efficiency and assist others in completing tasks and work assignments
Service Selling
  • Responsible for guiding members in the direction of their dreams by ensuring we offer relevant solutions
  • Effectively build relationships with all members and exhibit a willingness to help. Promote, explain, issue, and cross-sell other credit union services such as electronic services, debit and credit cards, and new deposit and loan accounts
  • Referrals to our partners in our Mortgage Department and Horizon Retirement and Investment (HRI)
Technical Skills
  • Responsible for learning the core skills of the position along with continuously learning and staying current on regulatory & policy changes.
  • Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of all credit union products and services that are handled or promoted by tellers.
  • Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of all related policies, procedures, and rules and regulations, including robbery procedures.

The full pay range for this position across all the states in which we hire is $16.62-24.10. The figures shown represent the minimum and maximum of the range for this role. Individual offers are made dependent upon a candidate's experience, education, and skill level.

Requirements
EXPERTISE YOU NEED
Education & Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough knowledge of credit union's computer system for performing basic input/output tasks.
Capabilities
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Ability to accurately handle cash speedily when dealing with members and balancing cash before and after use
  • Ability to operate CRT unit including input, output, and inquiry to member accounts and other account information required in the member service function
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and tools, such as personal computers, postage machines, fax machine, telephones, photocopier, and typewriters
  • Familiar with the differences in the basic number of products and services offered by other financial institutions to those offered by the credit union.
ABLE TO
To perform the essential functions of this position an employee must be able to meet the following workplace demands: ability to converse with others, detect sound, identify and detect objects, count, read, write, operate a computer, handle and feel objects, reach with hands/arms and be stationary and/or stand and/or move for long periods of time. Occasionally an employee will lift/pull/push and carry up to 25 to 50 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb and be able to maintain balance doing these activities. Position requires sound reasoning, good judgment and ability to apply knowledge toward work activities. The noise level is moderate and typical of a normal office environment.
