Senior Software Engineer, Back-End

Primary Function:

A Senior Software Engineer, Back-End at HomeTown Ticketing is a developer that is an expert at working on the server-side of our applications with strong database knowledge. They work in an Agile development environment and are experienced with architecture, design, business solutioning, and delivery of technology solutions for the digital ticketing platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Research, analyze, design, propose, and deliver solutions that support and enhance business and technologies strategies.

  • Define and rationalize the technology and security infrastructure that supports the application solutions/tools.

  • Provide application architecture consultations, technical guidance and mentoring to engineers, designers, and developers.

  • Effectively communicate and influence others towards moving to future state architectures, leading by example.

  • Identify technical risks and plans to mitigate risks, adherence to standards and best practices.

  • Own technical plans, application architecture, techniques, and outcomes of scalability, stability, performance, security, and operational insight. Identify, assess, and communicate risks related to the roadmap.

  • Monitor and analyze industry technology trends to determine their potential impact or application for the organization and apply that knowledge to application designs.

  • Evaluate and obtain alignment on technology standards, patterns, and reference architecture with the architecture team.

  • Engage in proof of technology activities to evaluate technical options and ensure potential solutions meet core capability needs.

  • Support architecture governance through use of effective metrics that informs and influences product roadmap.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of experience, including 4 years as a lead developer preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.

  • Experience using technologies such as Node.js, PHP, Java, SQL and NoSQL databases, SQS, Kafka, NestJS, and RESTFul APIs in an event driven microservice architecture.

  • Proven experience working with back end layers of application development.

  • Experience with distributed computing and message-based systems preferred.

  • Comfortable working with open-source technologies.

  • Proficient in data modeling and API design.

  • Adept in application/platform security.

  • A keen grasp of information technology

  • Proficient with GSuite or related software.
