Description: The Public Relations Manager serves as part of Holland & Knight's public relations team, providing support for firmwide external communications. Responsible for developing and implementing public relations strategies to raise the profile of the firm and protect and enhance its reputation and brand. This position reports to the Senior Public Relations Manager. Key Responsibilities Include: Oversees an integrated communications and public relations strategy seeking positive placements in a variety of media outlets that protect and enhance the firm’s image. The successful candidate will develop a thorough understanding of the firm’s practice areas, clients and communications needs. Develops and maintains relationships with the media, with an emphasis on journalists in the designated region. Fields inquiries from outside media and coordinates with firm attorneys on responses and interviews. Works with practice marketers and practice group leaders to develop and execute public relations plans that support practice and regional business development goals. Proactively researches, identifies and secures media opportunities for attorneys and practice groups. Researches and drafts attorney talking points for media interviews and assists with attorney media training when needed. Researches and places attorney-authored articles in appropriate journals and publications. Prepares, drafts and edits certain awards submissions for the firm, practices and attorneys, as needed. Drafts, edits and distributes press releases for new lateral hires, promotions, events, rankings, deals/cases and other topics as deemed appropriate. Assists with firmwide crisis communications. Serves as a liaison and provides oversight to the firm’s outside public relations agencies. Special projects and additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: At least 5 - 7 years of experience in communications, public relations or marketing roles, preferably in a professional services environment or PR agency. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Strong organizational and project management skills; detail oriented. Performs well under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Ability to work independently as well as with a team. Solid experience pitching stories to the media. Relationships with media preferred but not required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree required. Major in communications, journalism or public relations preferred.
