Holiday Inn Long Island/ISLIP Airport East is Hiring a Front Office Manager Near Holtsville, NY

We are looking for a Front Office Manager. You will be responsible for the efficient running of the department in line with Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) Strategies and brand standards, whilst meeting employee, guest and owner expectations. The Front Office Manager is responsible for assisting the General Manager in delivering the brand promise by managing the Front Office operations for the hotel, including, but not limited to the Front Desk, Shuttle Services, Business Center.

*** Flexible Schedule including mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends and Holidays is a MUST***

Qualifications

Ideally, the candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field in addition to 5 years experience in a hotel as a Front Desk Agent with OPERA experience or at least 2 years as a Front Office Supervisor. Good problem solving, administrative and interpersonal skills are a must. Must speak fluent English. Other languages preferred.

Job Description

Assist in managing the day-to-day activities of hotel operations to ensure guest satisfaction and maximize hotel profitability. Serve as the Manager on Duty, on call when needed. Direct, implement and maintain a service and management philosophy which serves as a guide to respective staff.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and assignments of the hotel Front Office staff; assist the General Manager in the development and communication of departmental strategies and goals.
  • Communicate and enforce policies and procedures. Track and make sure all required trainings are completed within allotted time.
  • Recommend and/or initiate disciplinary, or other staffing/human resources-related actions in accordance with company rules and policies. This includes write ups, termination.
  • Recruiting, hiring, onboarding.
  • Alert the General Manager of potentially serious issues. Complete and track incident reports.
  • Ensure all staff is properly trained and have the tools and equipment needed to effectively carry out their job functions.
  • Manage the Front Office operations for all or some of the following areas:

- Front Office functions to ensure the delivery of superior guest services, the security of any cash bank, credit card transactions and guest information, and that established goals are achieved.

- Food and Beverage, which may include Breakfast functions, to ensure standards of operation and quality and guest satisfaction are maintained.

- Foster positive employee relations, and reconcile time edits and payroll administration/scheduling in compliance with wage and hour regulations.

- Ensure market is stocked and maintained in an orderly and appealing manner. Monitor inventory and order replenishments in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Adhere to established appropriate service recovery guidelines in order to ensure complete guest satisfaction. Respond to guest complaints or concerns in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Comply with federal, state and local laws regarding health, safety of guests and staff.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other shifts and departmental management.
  • Maintain a professional appearance with a positive attitude and be adaptable and flexible.
  • Adhere to safety and security guidelines, follow emergency procedures and responds promptly, and is familiar with the use of a fire extinguisher. Train staff in emergency procedures.
  • Hold regular meetings and offer regular coaching.
  • Place and pick up change orders.
  • On call, organize shift coverage, cover call outs to ensure smooth operations.

This job requires ability to perform the following:

  • Frequently standing up behind the desk and front office areas
  • Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Handling phones and computer equipment
  • Use a keyboard to operate various property management and reservations systems, etc.
