Overview

OVERVIEWThis temporary full-time position is primarily responsible for monitoring and protecting the workers entering the confined space and informing rescue, if required, while assigned to jobs within the cement manufacturing areas. The Safety Attendant may also be responsible for monitoring workers performing hot work, and is responsible for protecting the workers and preventing fires, and if necessary, extinguishing small fires.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES● Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.● Practice and promote safety in such a way as including but not limited to; assessing risks before starting tasks, only performing authorized activities, utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).● Set up jobs per procedures for work being performed. Knows who to contact in case of emergency and where the nearest eyewash and safety equipment is located.● Ensures that proper equipment needed for job is in place (e.g. meters, radios, barricade tape, fire extinguishers, etc.)● Maintains visual and/or radio communication with crew. Observes work conditions and maintains awareness of anything that could endanger the workers.● Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment including but not limited to confined space monitors.● Ability to remain mobile, walk distances on uneven ground and climb stairs.● Adheres to all safety protocol to include confined space entry, lock-out-tag-out, working at heights, wearing appropriate safety glasses, gloves and other personal protective equipment, as well as all OSHA, MSHA requirements● Ability to work shifts as required● Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONSEducation: High school diploma or equivalent

SKILLS● Ability to determine the cause of operating errors and to identify solutions● Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment● Ability to determine the appropriate equipment for the task at hand● Ability to install equipment or wiring to product specifications● Ability to monitor gauges, dials or other indicators to ensure equipment is working properly

• Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
