Overview

About the role:

Perform quality control tests for the specific product lines in accordance with established local and national standards. This position will be required to conduct quality control tests within the precision standards established by ASTM and DDOT. The Quality Control Technician should be able to perform all required aggregate and asphalt tests for physical properties determination (specific gravities, absorption, asphalt ignition testing) as well as conduct in depth problem solving, detailed data and trend analysis, and troubleshooting associated with aggregate and asphalt material performance. This position also assists the Material Performance Manager of the product line in the implementation of best practices and techniques, in regards to product quality and quality initiatives.

Responsibilities

What you'll be doing:

• Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
• Collect samples and perform accurate quality control testing to ensure quality concrete products.
• Mix and test concrete mixes, report results and work with concrete sales staff.
• Provide verbal and/or written test results to QC Manager, operations and sales staff in timely manner.
• Work with internal and external customers to help resolve issues. 
• Perform field QC in addition to lab work.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

We're looking for:

Education: Associate/Technical Degree

Required Work Experience: 2-3 years

Required Training/Certifications: NYSDOT QC/QA Certifications

Additional Requirements:

• Complete understanding of ASTM specifications and test procedure for aggregates and asphalt.
• Availability and willingness to work flexible hours including some nights and weekends to meet customer needs.
• Ability to lift and carry 75 lbs. over uneven ground for a distance of 300 ft.
