Overview

PURPOSE

Responsible for maintaining the mobile equipment fleet in a state readiness. Performs the appropriate vehicle/mobile equipment inspections and preventative maintenance. Performs required vehicle/mobile equipment repair maintenance. Informs supervisor of vehicle condition that could impact readiness. Prepares all required daily/weekly operating reports as required

Responsibilities

• KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment failures.
  • Provide repair and maintenance to diesel and gasoline engines. Adjust and repair ignition, fuel, electrical, hydraulic and steering systems.
  • Maintain and repair chassis, frames and bodies.
  • Work with hoisting and jacking equipment, power tools, measuring instruments, gauges and meters.
  • Lubricate equipment. Maintain and repair tires, batteries, brakes and valves.
  • Perform shop management functions such as maintenance scheduling and spare parts inventory control; making estimates of material, labor, and equipment requirements.
  • Performs inspections on completed jobs; ensures conformance with policies and procedures, safety codes. Ensures proper documentation of maintenance and repair activities in logs and/or incident reports.
  • Maintain an effective system of communications with supervisors and customers
  • Experience with conducting DOT certifacations on trucks
  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
  • Practice and promote safety in such way as including but not limited to; assessing risks before starting tasks, only performing authorized activities, utilizing appropriate PPE.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESRequired Education: High School diploma/GEDRequired Work Experience: 2-3 years of experience preferred

Preferred 

Work Experinece: Prefer experience with Caterpillar loaders, excavators, and rock trucks, and hydraulic drill repairs

Additional Requirements:

• Valid CDL
• Knowledge and experience with hydraulics and air brakes
• Knowledge and experience with gas and diesel engines

• Basic math, reading, and writing skills are required (English)
