Overview

About the Role:

The Senior Estimator prepares cost estimates for product manufacturing, construction projects, or services to aid management in bidding on or determining price of product or service. May specialize according to particular service performed or type of product manufactured.

Responsibilities

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and
  • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops. Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction foreman to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. Confer with engineers, architects, management, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates. Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work. Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
  • Review material and labor requirements, to decide whether it is more cost effective to produce or purchase components. Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.

  • Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures. Establish and maintain tendering process, and conduct negotiations. Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost.
  • Prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or
  • Develops and maintains reports as required. Coordinates with appropriate personnel to respond and complete audits. Performs risk analysis of supplier alternatives to support sourcing, supplier development, and qualifications activates. Maintain accurate material and labor cost data, compare estimates costs with actual costs and make appropriate adjustments to estimating methodologies.
  • Maintain Win/Loss report. Track bid results and unit prizes in the market.

Qualifications

We're Looking For:

Education: Bachelor's/University Degree

Field of Study Preferred:  Engineering, Project Management, or Construction Management

Required Work Experience: 5 years’ experience in paving, road construction, or related field.

Required Training/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred or comparable experience and/or training. Compensation will review the educational and years of experience requirements once the completed description has been submitted.

Required Computer and Software Skills:

Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bidding/Estimating Software (Bid2Win, Etakoff, SAP) related industry software experience strongly preferred.
