Overview

About the role:

The Director of Total Rewards is responsible for the strategic direction, management, communication, and execution of Holcim US (“Holcim” or “Company”) Total Rewards, including compensation programs and management, all health and welfare benefits, and mobility. 

Responsibilities

What you'll be doing:

  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
  • Ensures Holcim’s compensation programs are consistent with market practices and enable the Company to attract, motivate and retain high-performing employees.
  • Works with Group (Corporate) Total Rewards to implement global practices in accordance with US requirements and culture.
  • Oversees the execution of the annual merit, pay equity, and bonus practices, including calculation, verification, and administration of 85 annual short-term bonus plans; manages the distribution of annual long-term incentive awards.
  • Ensures retirement plans are properly managed both financially and in accordance with all compliance requirements.
  • Responsible for compliance with respect to all compensation, benefit, and mobility programs.
  • Leads annual health and welfare benefit plan renewals, evaluates benchmark and internal data, and pricing negotiations, and makes the cost/benefit analysis to provide a recommendation for benefit plan design and options.
  • Acts as primary contact for all health and welfare benefit brokers; ensures Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with all benefit providers are met, addresses any unsatisfactory service with brokers and providers.
  • Ensures Human Resources leadership is aware of regulatory changes, and how the changes will impact employees, and work with the Legal team and other applicable business partners to develop, communicate and implement relevant practice and policy changes.
  • Plays a critical role in acquisition due diligence and integration.
  • Oversees Mobility team responsible for all aspects of domestic and international relocations, including immigration and taxation for new and existing employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Relationship with other jobs:

  • Work closely with CFO, Treasurer, and Group Compensation to develop and manage Total Rewards practices that are consistent with Holcim US’s strategy.
  • Work with HR Directors and Managers to elicit and communicate information about Total Rewards initiatives.
  • Work with Shared Services and IT to ensure programs are properly supported and implemented. 

Qualifications

We're looking for:

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Additional Education Preferred: Master's degree

Field of Study Preferred: Human Resources, Business, Math, or Liberal Arts

Required Work Experience: Minimum 15 years working in compensation and benefits, with extensive and thorough demonstrated knowledge of Health and Welfare Benefits practices, federal and state regulations and reporting, defined contribution plans (pensions), variable compensation management, and a minimum of five years leading a Total Rewards team.

Required Training/Certifications: CEBS, CCP, or SPHR a plus, but not required

Licenses Preferred: None

Required Computer and Software Skills: Microsoft Office Suite; Google; SuccessFactors a plus

Travel Requirements: 20%

  • Excellent leadership, strategic, analytical, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Best in Class Total Rewards practices and the ability to evaluate applicability for Holcim US. 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop team members; can effectively lead a geographically dispersed team.
  • Data-driven and analytical; knows what information is needed, how to get it, and tell the story.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for improvement, and develop and implement effective, sustainable solutions. 
  • Strong bias for action.
