HNTB Corporation is Hiring an Electrical Project Engineer Near Bellevue, WA
What We're Looking For Responsible for the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects. This position consults with the project manager to perform research, development, calculations, design and delivery. Applies engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity. Leverages technical knowledge and experience to address design related issues or concerns, working closely with the project manager through creative problem solving, interactions with clients and by completing tasks to meet the project schedule. Develops conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support the project completion using current drawing and technical tools, programs and software. May mentor, train and review work of junior engineer staff and provide constructive feedback. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB’s clients. Primary Focus Will Include: Leadership of the electrical engineering technical team for ongoing and new planning and design projects along with engineering support during construction Project types including highway tunnels, water treatment and distribution facilities, aviation and airport facilities, and architecture projects related to transportation facilities Design of electrical, control, and lighting systems Engineering analysis including short circuit analysis, load, voltage drop, service size and other calculations Development of Process and Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs) Development of plant process automation networks and architectures including Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) Design leadership for design teams including other engineers, drafters, and technicians QC of designs by other electrical group members Interaction with and coordination within the larger design team of fire/life safety, mechanical, structural, and civil engineers Preferred Qualifications and Skills: Master’s or Bachelor's degree in Engineering 8 years relevant experience Professional Engineer (PE) certification Skilled at applying the NEC and local electric codes for large electrical installations involving switchgear, electrical distribution equipment, generators, motor control centers, and electrical room layouts Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC automation systems and networks Experience performing electrical system short circuit load analysis Experience leading technical teams through projects including managing budgets, schedules, and work scopes Experience contributing to the development of Level of Effort (LOE) documents including project budgets and scopes Experience working with large multi-disciplinary project teams Ability to work independently to lead a team to complete work assignments Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of technical skill sets and backgrounds Experience with 4160V wiring and motor controls Experience coordinating with serving electric utilities Experience with creating the plant electrical system architecture in the single-line diagram showing utility power sources, generation sources, Mot Development of Motor Control Center (MCC) lineups including control diagrams for the individual motor controllers Designs that include Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) Experience with integrating plant electrical equipment, motor controls, and instruments in programmable logic controller (PLC) systems Experience developing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) Experience with applying NFPA 130 and/or NFPA 502 What You'll Need Essential Responsibilities: Responsible for the planning and distribution of discipline-specific work, and adherence the to the schedule and budget on projects. Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation. Assists with the development of scope of work and level of effort for projects and/or assignments within discipline. Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work within the technical discipline. Guides and mentors team to overall project objectives. Coordinates technical aspects of project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline. Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience Master’s degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience PhD in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience Competencies: Ensures accountability by holding oneself and others accountable to meet commitments.
