SUMMARY:
Provides evaluation for individuals of all ages and all ethnic groups who are suffering from an acute mental health crisis. Must have the ability to work in an intense, stressful work environment where you must perform rapid assessments and have the ability to multi-task. Applies specialized clinical knowledge and advanced clinical skills in the areas of assessment, and crisis intervention of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders, conditions and addictions, including severe mental illness in adults and seniors, severe emotional disturbances in children and adolescents, and acutely intoxicated or withdrawing individuals.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• Graduate from a CCNE or NLN accredited nursing program is strongly preferred. Graduate from an approved nursing program is acceptable.
• Two years of Behavioral Health nursing experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS:
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of South Dakota or meeting the enhanced Nursing Compact Licensure (eNLC) requirements is required.
• RN Licensure required within the states that eCare Behavioral Health is providing service within 120 days of hire.
• Attain certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing (PMHN) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) required within 1 year of employment and every 5 years thereafter.
• Membership in a professional organization preferred.
• Completion of Child & Dependent Adult Abuse for Iowa Mandatory Reporters course required for employees within 90 days of employment and every 3 years thereafter.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Answer all inquiry calls in a timely fashion, offer and schedule assessments, complete the database and keep all information up to date. As the point of contact for all of eCARE BHC services, provide excellent customer service to all callers.
2. Complete the psychosocial assessment including suicide/homicide risk assessment, determine appropriate level of care and give guidance to the provider at the end site.
3. Assist telemedicine sites with patient placement of psychiatric inpatient beds. Provide mental health support services in the community by keeping patients in their communities to receive outpatient care and promote mental health services available through Avel Behavioral Health.
4. Assumes other responsibilities with eCARE BHC projects and community activities as assigned by the Director.
