Responsibilities

As a Payroll Specialist with Hines, you will maintain and process activities related to all payroll taxes, union dues and involuntary deductions, such as levies and garnishments, and preparing related accounting transactions and documents. In addition, you will be responsible for payroll preparation and processing. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Ensure accuracy of payroll earnings, deductions, and tax withholding.
• Monitor federal, state, and local regulatory requirements to ensure employee tax compliance.
• Ensure tax files and payments are processed in a timely manner.
• Prepare tax adjustments and amend returns as needed.
• Serve as main resource for payroll tax inquiries from employees and payroll team.
• Ensure accuracy of payroll earnings, deductions, and tax withholding.
• Maintain, process, and audit North American Payrolls.
• Assist with special projects to support payroll area.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements include: 

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or related field from an accredited institution.
• Three or more years' payroll experience preferred.
• Three or more years' multi state tax experience required.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Workday payroll processing & reporting experience preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills and initiative.
• Effectively set priorities and follow through to ensure meeting deadlines timely and accurately.
• Identify issues and provide process improvements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Work well in a team environment.
• Maintain strict confidentiality.
