The purpose of this position is to perform skilled accounting duties in support of department objectives. Safeguard the assets of HIMSS by providing and/or adhering to immediate and long-term internal controls. Work to provide accurate and timely financial reporting to the Board and Executive team.

Essential Functions:

• Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations. Investigate any reconciling items and propose journal entries as needed. Assist in the preparation of audit work papers.
• Participate in monthly and annual general ledger closing process to ensure accurate financial statements.
• Prepare year-end audit schedules and analyses as assigned.
• Record journal entries for activity, accruals, reclasses, transfers, adjustments, allocations, etc.
• Work closely with the Finance team on implementing improvements to financial accounting systems, policies, and procedures.
• Support the team in special projects.

What you will need to be successful:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting; or equivalent work experience in finance and accounting roles
• A minimum of two (2) years of related Accounting work experience.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and team-based project environment
• Proven analytical skills
• Demonstrate strong organizational skills, initiative, and the ability to be a self-starter
• Knowledge of financial reporting standards US GAAP and financial reporting controls
• Detail Oriented
• Effective oral and written communication skills, with ability and comfort level communicating with senior management and internal stakeholders
• Demonstrated computer skills, with proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge of Great Plains and Netsuite is a plus.
• International accounting/foreign currency experience desirable.
