What will I be doing?

As the Associate Software Engineer, you will work with software development concepts, methodologies, and current development languages to deliver Hilton Technology solutions. You will develop, test, debug, and document application systems to achieve the objectives detailed in the business requirements. Using deep technical expertise and analytical skills, the candidate will work closely with Solution/ Platform Architects and multi-functional teams.

More specifically, you will:

• Advice on and contribute to the creation of technical specifications and product design to perform development tasks
• Engage and collaborate with Solution and Platform architects to drive solutions for problems following the strategic vision established by Technology Executives
• Develop solutions that help meet the ‘definition of done for a particular User Story or break/fix
• Code/configure quality technology solutions that require limited rework and meet business / end-user needs by adhering to best practices defined by build managers, solution, and platform architects
• Follow the defined agile methodology delivering industry-leading solutions with outstanding quality and performance
• Research and implement standard methodologies frameworks/capability models that will control costs, provide higher quality, and/or increase the predictability of service delivery

What are we looking for?

We believe the success in this role will demonstrate itself through the following attributes and skills:

• Staying current on business initiatives and objectives, particularly to infrastructure and development architecture issues
• Work independently without significant oversite to follow requirements
• Ability to understand existing architecture standards, develop solutions within the guidelines, propose architecture changes

To fulfill this role optimally, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:

• Two (2) years of professional work experience in Technology or a related field
• One (1) year of experience in modern micro-service technologies for building RESTful services, including Java and JSON
• One (1) year of working experience with MySQL, Gitflow, Splunk, Kanban, Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo)

It would be useful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

• Bachelor’s Degree, or Associate’s Degree plus 2 years of Technology related experience, or High School Degree/GED plus 6 years of Technology related experience
• One (1) year of Swagger Codegen experience
• Experience with IoT is a plus
• Previous hospitality experience is an asset
