What will I be doing?

The Senior Associate Software Engineer will work as part of a team to design, develop, and manage content-driven features across Hilton’s digital customer journey applications. This position will be expected to work within an agile framework and will be responsible for providing support to the team lead in the technical design and development of targeted features and functions required allowing Hilton to maintain its position as a leader in hospitality.

More specifically, you will:

  • Design, develop, configure, customize, and maintain the Content Management System for Hilton's mobile and web mediums, including the following tasks: code reviews, writing unit tests, bug fixes, build plans, understanding/communicate downstream service dependencies, and other supportive functions within the technical stack as needed
  • Collaborate with the development and architecture teams on targeted features and functions and offer technical guidance to implement solutions that meet business goals
  • Gain a strong working knowledge of the various applications that are part of Hilton's content ecosystem (The Exchange, Cloudinary, Service Now, etc.)
  • Provide support to the team lead in the creation of diagrams, workflows, and any other artifacts necessary to clearly convey the intended design for new, more complex features
  • Establish solid partnerships within the IT organization to ensure functional alignment and a clear understanding of feature requests
  • Help fill gaps throughout the development cycle to ensure we meet delivery expectations
  • Build capabilities on the technology stack and build efficiencies to increase the velocity of the team
  • Follow the defined agile methodology delivering industry-leading web, and mobile enabling solutions with best-in-class quality and performance

Requirements

To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of professional experience within Technology or a related field
  • Two (2) years of proven development experience working with at least one Java-based Content Management System (BloomReach Experience Manager, OpenText TeamSite, Adobe Experience Manager, etc.)
  • Two (2) years of demonstrated experience with Data Modeling, Configuration, and Customization of a Content Management System
  • Two (2) years of demonstrated experience in Java/J2EE development
  • Strong working knowledge of Atlassian Stack, Docker, Bamboo, and using Git as version control with a team

It would be helpful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or Associate’s Degree plus 6 years of Technology related experience, or High School Degree/GED plus 12 years of Technology related experience
  • Five (5) years of professional experience within Technology or a related field
  • Prior working knowledge of BloomReach Experience Manager and/or CMS Developer certification
  • Working knowledge that supports Content as a Service (headless CMS)
  • Developed solutions for Enterprise Content Management systems built on the JCR APIs
  • Experience developing large-scale web applications using Java, microservices, and multi-threaded programming and has a good understanding of web design patterns
  • Knowledge about front-end UI frameworks such as React, Angular, etc.
  • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases (Couchbase, MongoDB)
  • Experience with Messaging architectures (Kafka, Redis, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience in building RESTful APIs and understanding of REST principles
