Description

The Accounting Manager will oversee and perform activities to support the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll and General Accounting functions. The Accounting Manager will oversee the development and processes of accurate reports and account management.

What will I be doing?

As an Accounting Manager, you would be responsible for managing the accounting function in hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Supervise on property Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll and General Accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy of all team processes to the various accounts
  • Coordinate with shared services center and third-party service providers (outsourcing provider, auditors, state and local tax authorities, banks) to ensure all necessary information is compiled, reviewed, and approved.
  • Interact with internal audit on findings from audit reviews and support resolution of findings
  • Build and review accuracy of monthly financial statements for team heads, hotel management, corporate office, and owners, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Uniform System of Accounts, and Hilton guidelines, and identify clearly any discrepancies
  • Assist in maintaining and auditing internal financial controls (cash handling, inventories, capital expenditure, personnel time records, etc.)
  • Assist and supervise team in preparation and review of budgets and forecasts/projections as required (Annual, Revised Annual, Monthly, and/or on Corporate/Owner’s requests)
  • Assist with maintaining adequate internal control over revenues, expenses, assets and liabilities of the hotel
  • Participate in special projects, team training and development of junior team members, performance management, and evaluations of the team
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required
  • Act in accordance with fire, health and safety regulations on property and follow the correct procedures when required

  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely express ideas both verbally and in writing.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and both quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with the ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision making skills to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and to provide recommendations for optimal solutions.
  • Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions even among seemingly unrelated events.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and comprehension skills, including the ability to clearly explain complex analytical topics to a wide audience who may or may not be familiar with analytics or the subject matter.
  • Absolute discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and effectively handle multiple, concurrent demands and appropriately prioritize responsibilities.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word and Outlook with the ability to quickly learn new programs when required.
  • Hilton is in the hospitality industry, and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times
  • Advanced degree in the Accounting field preferred
  • Three (3) or more years of analytical experience within the accounting field preferred
  • Experience supervising, coaching, and mentoring others preferred
  • Hospitality industry experience preferred
  • High proficiency with PeopleSoft, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Knowledgeable of PeopleSoft ERP/General Ledger application.
  • Knowledgeable of other applications (Smartview, Essbase, OnQ, Agilysys, Blackline, etc.)
