SALARY RANGE: $35,000-$41,000

Position Summary: 

The Safety Specialist is responsible for following Hill Brothers hiring policy, compliance guidelines, and DOT requirements while processing driver applications. Additionally, the Safety Specialist is required to document communication, request and provide requested information as outlined in the Hiring Guidelines and Protocol. The Safety Specialist may also be tasked with training or communicating information during the candidate Qualification process.

Scope: 

  1. Request Verification of Employment forms from employers.
  2. Actively communicate with other departments regarding hiring status.
  3. Accurately enter data into Safety Department software systems.
  4. Investigate candidate work history for relevant experience.
  5. Investigate background information further as specified by Reporting Supervisor.

Accountabilities: This is ultimately what the person will be held accountable to accomplish; the outcomes.

Examples:

  1. Maintain Driver Qualification File compliance during and after the Qualification Process.
  2. Follow the standard Hiring Guidelines and Driver Requirements as outlined by Hill Brothers Transportation.
  3. Responsible for all aspects of the Driver Separation Process.
  4. Conduct Driver Qualification compliance reporting (i.e. Annual Review, MVR reports).
  5. Assist with the Drug & Alcohol Testing Program.
  6. Assist with the Medical Qualification processes.
  7. Ensure that all reports are delivered on time and accurately. 
  8. Consistently report to work as required and complete normal work hours.
  9. Comply with company policy and procedures.

  8. Judgment - The ability to formulate a sound decision using the available information.
  9. Time Management - Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines.

Skills: 

  1. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  2. Keyboarding
  3. Able to write and speak using correct grammar
  4. Work in a fast-paced, moderately high stress environment

Education, certification, and experience requirements:

  • High school degree or equivalent

Other Requirements: 

Travel: May travel outside of the Omaha Metro area 10% of time
