POSITION SUMMARY 

The HR Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: On-boarding and Off-boarding, Workers Comp and Leaves, Employee Experience, Training, Surveys, Unemployment Claims, Employee Relations, Company Policies and Practices, Employment Law Compliance; will also assist the Safety department and others as needed. In addition, this person should always be looking for ways to make processes more efficient by taking advantage of all the HRIS has to offer.

Essential Functions Statement(s) 

  • Manage and maintain On-boarding, including the HRIS; implement the onboarding process for new hires, including drivers and non-drivers; conduct presentations as needed
  • Participate in the off-boarding process for employees, including witnessing and documenting separations
  • Work with insurance company to process, record and manage Worker’s Comp claims; collaborate with other departments to resolve issues; maintain OSHA300 log following OSHA standards; assist with Return To Work programs
  • Manage Leave requests including Medical, FMLA, COVID, Personal and Military, for all employees; process Medical Leaves for Independent Contractors, as needed 
  • Promote Hill Bros. culture, including People First and The Hill Bros. Way; assist with creating and utilizing various means of training
  • Work with management to create, utilize and monitor various surveys through the HRIS; manage and edit surveys as needed
  • Complete and submit various surveys, such as those for benefits and EEO-1 
  • Process unemployment claims via vendors website; submit paperwork to TPA; setup and manage phone hearings
  • Assist with handling behavior issues with employees following company procedure; may include complaints
  • Assist Safety department with duties regarding the company Safety Committee to comply with NE LB757 regulation
  • Creates and keeps up-to-date SOP’s for all tasks
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state laws and regulations concerning employment; is aware of new laws and regulations and shares with the HR Team
  • Gather information for legal claims as required by subpoena’s, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned
  • Consistently report to work as required and complete normal work hours, plus some after hours
  • Comply with company policies and procedures

SKILLS & ABILITIES 

Education: Associates Degree in an HR related field and/or HR certification such as PHR or SHRM-CP

Experience: One to two years’ experience in the HR field or any similar combination of education and experience

Computer Skills: 

Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook 

Experience with Paylocity is a plus
