HighRes Biosolutions is seeking a Machinist III with broad manufacturing experience using ProtoTRAK mill, lathes and CNC routers. You will work among a talented cross functional team bringing robotics and complex automated systems for the life science industry to market.

Assists company management with the design and setup of machine shop, including developing specifications for ProtoTRAK lathes and CNC router.
Performs diversified machining operations necessary to construct, alter and repair a wide variety of precision parts, mechanisms and laboratory or test equipment. Use CNC router to fabricate custom lab bench table tops. Works from production and preliminary drawings, rough sketches, and redlines from designers and engineers.
Uses independent judgment in determining the best fabrication methods to be used. Plans, lays out and performs work on assignments including all types of machining and hand operations, fitting, adjusting and checking dimensions to very close tolerances.
Assists manufacturing engineering to support and improve manufacturing operations, including troubleshooting equipment and process issues, performing and documenting fixtures and equipment maintenance, and updating process documentation. Schedule, complete, and document routine maintenance on applicable manufacturing and test equipment.
- Plans machining by studying blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Planning the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job
- Taking measurements and marking material for cutting or shaping
- Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages
- Experience machining aluminum, stainless steel, plastics and lab resin.
- Experience fabricating turned parts on manual lathe and milling machined parts using a ProtoTRAK end mill.
- Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.
- Programs ProtoTRAK mills, lathes and routers by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
- Use manual and computer-controlled machinery.
- Write basic programs.
- Modify programs in response to problems.
- Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
- Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
Your knowledge, skills and attributes
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, SPC and/or ISO process controls.
- Basic understanding and ability to read prints and schematics
- Experience in a regulated environment, such as ISO9000 preferred
- Ability to complete tasks on-time with minimal supervision/guidance
- Ability and desire to learn from working with senior personnel
- Basic computer navigation and utilization skills
- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
- Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem and to think in such a way as to produce a new concept or idea
- High attention to detail and self-motivation skills
- Associates Degree in Engineering Technology or related field or High School and formal apprentice training, 3 or more years of related experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Sit/stand/walk 8 hrs./day
- Ability to work with both hands
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
