Highlight Technologies is Hiring a Grants Management Specialist Near Sequim, WA

Overview

We are currently searching for a Grants Management Specialist to provide support services that satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), based in Research Triangle Park, NC. This is a fully remote opportunity.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct administrative and financial review of grant applications.
  • Assist staff review and evaluate for accuracy and completeness competing and non-competing grant applications.
  • Assist staff review annual grant progress reports and new grants for conformity to Institute policy, compliance with Federal regulations, and consistency with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Work with staff on pre and post-award activities, including the preparation of grant awards.
  • Resolve grant-related issues, working with scientific and administrative personnel and with similar staff of grantee organizations.
  • Assist staff to manage and coordinate develop and maintain annual grant portfolio, provide administrative support for the Grants Management Branch for the review of grant applications, and resolve which involves a wide variety of problems and situations pertaining to the grant functions.
  • Assist staff monitor grant and award budgets in concurrence with final funding lists and monitor eligibility criteria in order to meet monthly grant deadlines for fiscal year.
  • Draft correspondence to address any administrative or management issues related to grant applications.
  • Assist staff advise applicants and grantees on financial and management issues relevant to their applications and perform corrections.
  • Initiate correspondence to grantee institutions regarding grant-related questions and problems, clarification of policy and procedures, or requests for additional information.
  • Review, revise, and prepare budget spreadsheets in Excel to reflect current funding levels, perform data analysis, and prepare reports based on data.
  • Coordinate simple funding actions that begin the grants/agreements awards process.
  • Prepare budgets for award in spreadsheet workbook, analyzing requested amounts based on allowability, allocability and reasonableness.
  • Assist staff prepare for and perform grant closeout functions.
  • Download, process, and verify data from grant applications proposals into a peer review data analysis and management system.
  • Maintain official grant file(s), prepare electronic documents, and upload images directly into the appropriate IMPAC II eGrants file groups.
  • Maintain and track co-funding, administrative supplements, diversity supplements, funds tracker using databases and SharePoint.
  • Prepare budgets for award in spreadsheet workbook, analyzing requested amounts based on allowability, allocability, and reasonableness.
  • Assist staff review grant budgets, comparing figures and amounts, reconciling discrepancies, and recommending adjustments.
  • Collaborate with staff to use guidelines and policies for specific situations utilizing NIA, NIH, and HHS grants administration sources.
  • Bring to attention of staff areas needing additional policies or procedures and contribute comments and suggestions on new policies, revisions, justifications for changes, etc.
  • Provide advice to program staff, applicants, and grantees on administrative and business management issues.
  • Monitor the status of grant application proposal processing and receipt by the IC Review Program.
  • Perform advanced analysis of grant program, applications, and procedures to enhance problem-solving, fill gaps of information, foster decision-making, and promote an area of science.
  • Ensure that electronic folders on the common drive for each application being discussed contain the correct information, including the application, summary statement, letter from PI and staff analysis.
  • Document the outcome of peer review meetings and disseminate results to stakeholders and grant applicants.
  • Develop critique template/technical evaluation score sheet for use by the peer review panel members to develop written scientific and technical evaluations for assigned grant applications/contract proposals.
  • Develop innovative grant arrangements to resolve critical and unprecedented program needs and interpret and apply business management policies, procedures and practices to grants created situations.
  • Provide fiscal and administrative review of grant applications.
  • Review and apply grants management policies and procedures for grant programs
  • Provide appropriate file documentation for assigned grant applications, including annotated applications ie, grant file, annotated correspondence with the grantee, program officer or other related offices to resolve any compliance requirements for a grant e.g., just-in-time materials, FA rate agreements, human subject or vertebrate animal concerns, complete grants management checklist in the GM IMPAC System, prepare budgets using standard NIH GM Workbook budget templates, and draft NOA ready for release with appropriate dates, terms and conditions of the grant.
  • Conduct correspondence with awardee institutions concerning unusual or unresolved issues to obtain additional information for adequate documentation or to suggest modifications or changes in budgets in accordance with policies, regulations, and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Public Trust background check eligibility.
  • Bachelorss degree in related disclipine plus minimum of four (4) years of experience.
  • Preferred, Masters degree in a related discipline plus two (2) years of experience.
  • Experience with:
