Overview

We are looking for a Design Manager to be part of the Design & Construction Team in the corporate New York office. 

Responsibilities

  • Under direction of senior leadership, be the point of contact with design consultants and purchasing agents.
  • Review and comment on FFE and OSE specifications to ensure quality and durability.
  • Monitor budget, schedule and process of designers and purchasing agents.
  • Work with the rest of the Design & Construction team to find and vet appropriate designers and purchasing agents for each project.
  • Participate in the designer/architect /purchasing agent RFP process with inhouse and/or third-party project managers.
  • Review consultant contracts and ensure scope and intent is being met.
  • Be the primary contact to assist hotels with guest-facing CapEx expenditures to ensure design consistency and durability is met.
  • Liaise with Hotel brands and ensure designers are following brand standards.
  • On smaller projects, be responsible for the design, sourcing, documentation and run the design with minimal oversight.
  • Keep senior design leadership informed on a regular basis. Ensure issues are raised in a timely manner to avoid conflict. 
  • Coordinate and lead process of procurement of guest-facing OSE

Qualifications

  • 4-7 years of experience in the hospitality industry required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design
  • Strong project management and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to create preliminary project budgets
  • Able to be nimble and flexible in a fast-paced environment and work under pressure
  • Must be able to multitask on various project running at the same time with short, similar deadlines.
  • Required software skills: AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office/Excel and Bluebeam
  • Experience working with vendors a plus
  • Specification writing & material selection experience a plus
  • Ability and willingness to travel
