3rd-4th Grade Classroom TEACHER

The 3rd-4th grade classroom teacher plans, organizes, and delivers lessons consistent with the 3rd-4th grade education curriculum at each grade level assigned. This classroom is a mixed-grade classroom with some subjects being taught to the whole class while some subjects being taught to a grade level while the other grade works independently with the help of a paraprofessional. The teacher explains complex concepts simply, and enriches classroom time by using a variety of instructional methods. Classroom Teachers encourage students to be curious and to have respect for the world and all that God has created.

Required Education:

• Have obtained a Bachelor’s degree
• Preference is given to candidates with state-level teacher certification

Required Spiritual Qualifications

All faculty and staff shall:

• Have received Jesus Christ as his/her Savior
• Believe that the Bible is God’s Word and standard for faith and daily living
• Be in agreement with school’s Statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of education
• Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others. This includes being committed to God’s Biblical standards for sexual conduct (Luke 6:40)
• Be a member in good standing at a local church that has a Statement of Faith in significant agreement with the school’s Statement of Faith
• Show by example the importance of Scripture study and memorization, prayer, witnessing, and unity in the Body of Christ
• Have the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to “train up a child in the way he should go”

Other Required Qualifications

All faculty shall:

• Recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their children’s education and be prepared to assist them in that task
• Place his/her teaching ministry ahead of other jobs or volunteer activities
• Demonstrate a love of children and heart to serve others
• Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance
• Respectfully submit and be loyal to authority
• Refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately
• Avoid gossip and practice Biblical conflict resolution (Matthew 18)

Essential Job Functions

Classroom Teachers shall:

• Reflect on the purpose of the school, which is using excellent education to support parents in their task of bringing up children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord Jesus Christ.
• Motivate students to accept God’s gift of salvation and help them grow in their faith through their witness and Christian role modeling
• Lead students to a realization of their self-worth in Christ
• Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities
• Keep proper discipline in the classrooms and on the school premises to promote a healthy learning environment
• Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interest and abilities of the students, challenging each to do his/her best
• Utilize valid teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals within the framework of the school’s philosophy
• Assess the learning of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required
• Maintain regular and accurate attendance and grade records to meet demands for a comprehensive knowledge of each student’s progress
• Help prepare/set up classrooms and learning spaces prior to the first day of school
• Set up classroom or equipment as needed prior to class
• Establish and enforce rules of conduct for activities; teach safety skills
• Adapt activities to students’ special needs; develop appropriate modifications when required
• Monitor use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities
