Job description

Director of Nursing

We are seeking a Director of Nursing who desires to work within our residential treatment center. The ideal candidates would have experience in nurse management, preferably, yet not necessarily, in a behavioral healthcare setting, and a working knowledge of eating disorders and related psychiatric and medical treatment interventions.

As a member of the treatment team, the Director of Nursing is responsible for providing 24-hour management of the nursing functions of the facility. The Director of Nursing is responsible for providing effective patient care oversight and leadership amongst the multidisciplinary team.

The Director of Nursing will perform the following duties:

  • Participate effectively as the department manager on a multidisciplinary leadership team
  • Manage the interdepartmental communications between the nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Function as a member of multi-disciplinary treatment team/staffing meetings
  • Maintain an effective clinical organizational structure and delegate appropriate authority for completion of assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain NJ-DCF and The Joint Commission Standards of Care.
  • Maintain responsibility for nursing staff and Recovery Assistant staff.
  • Arrange, monitor, and ensure coverage in the Nursing schedule.
  • Provide staff training and meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with established nursing care standards.
  • Develop and implement plans for Performance Improvement
  • Recruit and interview new nursing department employees
  • Participate in the administration on-call schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Valid New Jersey RN state license
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in nursing management, preferably in a behavioral healthcare setting.
  • Be familiar with the Joint Commission standards
  • Be familiar with the application of Continuous Quality Improvement process
  • Operate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to develop and apply organizational strategies.
  • Expertise in performing psychiatric nursing assessment and identifying medical and/or psychiatric problems
  • Knowledge of nursing process
  • Knowledge of utilization review processes
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and municipal laws and/or regulations that regulate residential treatment settings including confidentiality, patient rights, and professional code of ethics.
  • Prefer knowledge of eating disorders
  • Current CPR certification

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $120k - $145k (range determined upon experience significance)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
