Position Overview:
As a sustainability designer focused on next generation materials and CMF strategy, you will be responsible for researching, designing and implementing sustainable material solutions that push the boundaries of environmental responsibility. Additionally, you will lead the development of a CMF strategy that aligns our products with sustainability goals while ensuring aesthetics and user appeal.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Research and Analysis:
Stay up to date with the latest advancements in sustainable materials and technologies.
Conduct in-depth research and analysis of existing and emerging materials, assessing their environmental impact, performance and cost effectiveness.
Collaborate with external partners and suppliers to source and develop environmentally friendly materials.
CMF Strategy Development:
Create and implement a comprehensive CMF strategy that aligns with HP’s sustainability goals and user preferences.
Select environmentally responsible colors, materials, and finishes that enhance the aesthetic and functionality of our products.
Design Integration:
Work closely with product designers and engineers to incorporate sustainable materials and CMF elements into product concepts and prototypes.
Ensure that sustainability and CMF principles are integrated into the design process from concept to final product.
Life Cycle Analysis:
Perform life cycle assessments (LCA) to evaluate the environmental impact of materials and CMF choices, helping the company make informed decisions.
Provide insights for optimizing sustainability throughout the product life cycle.
Regulatory Compliance:
Keep abreast of relevant environment regulations and standards for both materials and CMF.
Ensure that material and CMF selections meet compliance requirements.
Collaboration:
Work closely with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to integrate sustainable materials seamlessly into the product development process.
Collaborate with external partners, suppliers, and organizations to source sustainable materials and CMF solutions.
Build a network of sustainable experts to collaborate with
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of material research, CMF choices, development, and testing
Prepare reports and presentations to communicate progress and findings to the team and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's in material science, sustainability, industrial design, or a related field.
Proven experience in sustainable material development, design or a related role
In-depth knowledge of sustainable material sources, processes and technologies, life cycle assessments, and environmental impact considerations
Proficiency in design software and tools.
Excellent communication, teamwork and collaboration skills.
Passion for sustainability and a commitment to minimizing environmental impact
