JOB TITLE: SOFTWARE DEVELOPER BUREAU: ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES 
SUPERVISED BY: DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY 
PAY GRADE: 24N ($52,132.34-$83,189.86—based on experience) 
FLSA: NON-EXEMPT

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS:

Under the direction of the Information Technology Director, performs technical, programming, and analytical work of moderate difficulty in the administration of Sheriff’s Office information management systems. Responsible for the maintenance and organization of agency’s custom software applications and databases. Work involves the use of programming logic, teaching skills, development and maintenance of database programs and responsibility for extraction of data for use in managerial/statistical reports.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Develops and maintains Sheriff’s Office in-house applications to meet operational and management needs. Supports applications from third-party vendors.
  1. Creates and maintains programs for the extraction of information used to create managerial and statistical reports on a monthly, quarterly, and as-needed basis.
  1. Develops web applications for public-facing and intranet websites
  1. Provides technical assistance to other members of the Sheriff’s Office.
  1. Performs programming and analytical tasks as directed by the Information Technology Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Training and Experience

Minimum of two (2) years of software development experience desired.

  1. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  1. Possesses knowledge in relational database management and software development.
  1. Ability to design and build new data-driven applications from concept to completion.
  1. Ability to maintain and enhance existing applications.
  1. Ability to quickly comprehend new applications and equipment and to make recommendations for their use, as necessary.
  1. Ability to effectively communicate with Sheriff’s Office employees, County officials and members of the community on both a technical and non-technical basis, as necessary.
  1. Skills required for the position:
  • Proficiency in the .NET Framework (C#)
  • SQL Server
  • Front End Languages (HTML, CSS, JS, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server
  • Experience with Information Internet Services (IIS)
  1. Desired skills:
  • Responsive Web Design
  • Support applications with Bootstrap
  • React and React Native
  • Node.js
  • .NET Core
  • ADA Compliance Knowledge
  • SSIS/SSRS

Essential Physical Skills

  • Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).
  • Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid).
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend and crawl in the repair, maintenance, and installation of computer equipment.
