Description
Responsible for the bookkeeping of retail operating companies as assigned
Responsible for preparation and reconciliation of monthly OEM financial statement
Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions
Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information
Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies
Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries
Ability to reconcile various general ledger accounts and schedules
Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
Provide technical support and advice on automotive accounting best practices
Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
Provide input into department’s goal setting process
Ownership of month-end and year-end close process for assigned retail operating company
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
Liaise with our Corporate Controller & Accounting Managers to improve financial procedures
Requirements
Proven experience as Sr Accountant, office manager, or Accounting Supervisor
Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures, auto industry preferred.
In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Process oriented, efficiency always in mind
Awareness of business trends
Familiarity with financial accounting statements
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, Reynolds or CDK preferred if auto experience
MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP’s and pivot tables
Accuracy and attention to detail
Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
Self-starter and able to manage and complete a project independently
BS degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
Relevant certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) preferred
