Description
Summary
A non-exempt position in the Quality Department inspecting carbon brushes, brush holders and specialty materials and products for conformance to specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

· Examine material or product for surface defects such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds.
· Compare product with specifications and/or drawings to ensure completion of assembly.
· Verify specified dimensions of product or material.
· Reject defective parts and document type of defect on part(s), inspection tags, or identify on specification paperwork.
· Interact with other departments as needed.
· Resolve customer issues with Customer Service and/or Helwig Carbon Products Technical Departments.
· Calibrate equipment and measuring devices as required by calibration system.
Requirements
· Previous quality assurance inspection experience from a manufacturing environment required.
· Must be able to read shop orders and drawings that include specifications, dimensions, and types of materials.
· Need to know how to use gages, calibers, micrometers, protractors, hard gaging scales and an optical comparator preferred.
· Ability to comprehend basic quality concepts such as process variation and demonstrated skills documenting inspection results.
· Proficient with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.)
· High school diploma with Technical Certification a plus

· Must be in good physical condition – sit, stand, stoop, and walk most of the day.
· Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 pounds.
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
The employee works indoors in a production environment. Additionally, the incumbent will work near moving mechanical parts. He/she may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. There is frequent noise in the work environment.
