Helpful is a well-funded online media startup. This role will support our small-but-growing editorial, video, and visual design teams. The Creative Project Manager will report to our VP of Content and Creative, Vilja Johnson (LinkedIn profile).

We’ve got big ambitions and lofty ideas, and we’re looking for someone who would relish the opportunity to break these down into bite-size, workable chunks. We’re still in the building phase, so there’s lots of room to establish cultural rhythms and lightweight processes. Here’s what you’d be working on in your first 90 days and beyond as Creative Project Manager:

• Set up, maintain, and improve our Airtable instance for editorial, video, and visual design
• Establish clear workflows, handoffs, and processes for content and creative teams
• Scale processes and setup as we add new teams and websites
• Connect teams for seamless collaboration on cross-channel projects and campaigns
• Simplify freelance workflows and invoicing in Airtable
• Help content/creative managers create and simplify project briefs
• Document processes and record trainings to help onboard new team members
• Work with video and design teams to document process for creative asset management
• Organize team retrospectives and surface ideas for improvement
• Help the team articulate constraints and tradeoffs and make informed choices
• Communicate progress and status to executive stakeholders 
• Resolve intra-team conflict and foster meaningful, cross-functional relationships
• Help evaluate risks and create a roadmap to establish timelines for major projects
• Help streamline production reporting 

About you

We’re looking for someone who thinks strategically and thrives on organization—someone who takes time to understand cross-functional needs and help us scale. 

The right person for this role will likely have 3 years of experience as a project manager (bonus if you’ve used Airtable), with experience working closely with editorial, video, and/or design teams. Certificates are nice, but we’re more interested in demonstrable ability to develop a rapport with a diverse team and create order from chaos. Here are a few traits that we’ll look for:

• Candid, but kind: You foster relationships of trust that allow you to build bridges between stakeholders, and you bring not only feedback, but actionable solutions.
• Organized, but flexible: You love brainstorming new and better ways of organizing our work, with a focus on processes that empower rather than burden.
• Big-picture thinker, but detail-oriented: You’re able to zoom in and out of the work, not only examining where we can improve the day-to-day process for the team, but also considering long-term impacts as we scale.

Pay and benefits
This is a full-time gig based out of our office in downtown Salt Lake City, UT. We’ll plan on working 4 days/week in the office. 

Depending on years of experience and complexity/scope of projects managed, the salary for this position is between $65,0000–90,000 with a 5–10% bonus paid quarterly. All employees are part of our bonus program.

The position includes 4 weeks (20 days) of paid time off, plus 11 additional days for local national holidays and 5 paid volunteer days. Each quarter, we’ll give you a day to get away from the office and just think—a personal offsite of sorts. You're also free to take additional time off as needed, like if you or your child/pet are sick, you need to run an errand, or whatever. What matters to us is that you’re accountable and communicative—we’re not fans of tracking hours.

After 3 months of employment, you'll be eligible for our 401(k) benefit, which the company matches up to 4% of your salary.
