Position 

Summary: Helix Diagnostics is a growing diagnostics laboratory located in southeastern Michigan. We cover a large mid-western territory with tremendous opportunity for those looking to grow both personally and professionally. Our phlebotomists represent the face of Helix Diagnostics to patients and our clinics. The phlebotomists are responsible for collecting on site tox (urine and saliva), blood, and molecular (e- swab) specimens from patients. Ensuring accurate patient information on a paper or electronic requisition form, then packaging and shipping all specimens to Helix Diagnostics for processing and testing. Phlebotomists are expected to perform specimen collection with confidence, following established protocol and procedures. Phlebotomists should maintain a safe, clean and professional environment, ensure required records and documentation and coordinate with supply chain department on inventory, making sure there’s enough supplies on site to complete daily testing requirements. Location: Chicago, Illinois - Part 

time, Clinic Hours: Saturday & Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ability to provide quality, error free work in a fast-paced environment

• Demonstrate excellent phlebotomy skills

• Must be able to make decision based on established procedures and exercise good judgement

• Committed to all Helix Diagnostics policies and procedures

• Demonstrates customer service and compassion when interacting with patients, physicians, and clinic staff

• Accurately identify the patient before any specimen is obtained

• Properly label and document the specimen and requisition form (paper or digital)

• Maintains an up-to-date collection log and communication journal

• Retrieve results via fax or LIS web portal

• Maintain consistent supply levels. Reach out to supervisor for assistance on replenishments

• Communicate with the Account Manager, Phlebotomy Supervisor or Compliance Team in regards to any questions or issues

• Our phlebotomists should not give any billing advice to either patient, physician or any office staff to ensure compliance

• Adhere to patient confidentiality expectations and HIPAA requirements

• Must be flexible and available based on staffing requirements that may include evenings, weekends and holidays

• Prioritize Helix Diagnostics ongoing training and education programs to ensure compliance and best practices

• Participate in department meetings and one on one’s with supervisor

• Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

• Site shifts/hours will be identified at time of hire

• Special projects as requested

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• 1 years of Medical or Laboratory experience

• Phlebotomy certification preferred

• Windows-based computer skills and proficient in clerical functions such as e-mails, lab results, fax machines and EMR/EHR connectivity

Job Type: Full time, Clinic Hours: Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.,
