Helio Health is Hiring a Recreation Specialist Near Binghamton, NY

Overview:
The Mission of Helio Health is to treat and promote recovery from the effects of substance use, mental health disorders, and other behavioral healthcare issues. To support the mission of Helio Health, the Recreation Specialist will create, organize and promote leisure activities, including but not limited to arts, crafts, sports, games, music, dramatics, social recreation, and hobbies to help support the mental well-being of our patients.
The Recreation Therapist will work on a Full-Time basis at our Binghamton Evaluation Center.
In addition to Helio Health’s comprehensive benefits package, this position is eligible for a Sign-On incentive up to $1,500!
Responsibilities:
  • Enforce rules and regulations of facility to maintain safety.
  • Responsible for: exercise facilities, inventory, maintenance and upkeep of recreation materials and lounges.
  • Organize, lead, and promote interest in recreational activities; analyze and adapt activities to individual ability levels; create activities that meet the interests of participants.
  • Conduct programming evaluation to ensure that the programs produce desired results.
  • Encourage participants to develop their own activities and leadership skills through group discussions or meetings.
  • Oversee the inventory of recreational materials and activity cart.
  • Think creatively to help participants overcome barriers to recovery orientated leisure.
  • Consult with primary Counselor to review treatment planning goals related to leisure and activities.
  • Patient education.
  • Reporting, documentation of services and record keeping.
  • Consultation with other professionals.
Qualifications:
  • Associates degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
  • One year of experience in recreation or a related field preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education or work experience may be considered.
  • CTRS Certification or progress toward CTRS Certification preferred.
