The Safety Manager will serve as the focal point for aviation safety management issues in the Company. The Safety Manager is responsible for providing aviation safety education to all pilots and new hires. He or she is responsible for the administration of the Company’s safety management program and functions as Chairman of the Safety Committee. This position monitors safety issues, provides aviation safety education, investigates incidents, acts as the resident expert on aviation safety matters, and makes recommendations to improve safety in the workplace.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Makes safety recommendations to the operations leadership team
  • Produces annual safety report and statistics
  • Works with the Director of Operations and Chief Pilot to improve safety
  • Develops and maintains the Company’s strategic safety program
  • Analyzes and preemptively resolves potential safety hazards
  • Makes recommendations to the Director of Operations, Chief Pilot, and COO as how to improve work place and flight safety
  • Conducts quarterly safety meetings; creates quarterly safety newsletter
  • Ensures base display of safety posters and safety media
  • Develops and or assigns safety presentation and ensures content is disseminated throughout the Company
  • Performs and or assigns safety presentation duties for new hire indoctrination training and annual training
  • Creates, implements, and manages employee safety recommendation program
  • Implements and manages incident reporting system
  • Attends safety seminars to stay up to date with industry changes
  • Maintains appropriate safety documentation and materials
  • Disseminates important safety information to all pilots and Company personnel

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5 years FAR Part 135 pilot experience
  • Previous flight instruction experience
  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate – Rotorcraft, Helicopter
  • Helicopter Instrument Rating
  • High School Diploma
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Leads by example, thrives in a team environment, and epitomizes aviation safety
