Jointhe McNabb Center Team as a Co-Response Clinician today!

The Co-ResponseClinician will work side-by-side(co-respond) with law enforcement in the community to intervene and divertindividuals during police encounters. The clinician will:

  • triage, assess and identifypossible treatment options for identified individuals
  • provide mental health follow-up field calls with law enforcement
  • be housed at Knoxville Police Department headquarters
  • facilitatetrainings to law enforcement on mental health and substance usedisorders
  • participate in Crisis Intervention Team (CIT)trainings.

COMPENSATION: Startingsalary for this position is approximately $48,020 /yr based on relevantexperience and education.

Schedule: 

  • Flexibilityrequired to meet the needs of the program.

Travel:

  • Validdriver's license required. 
  • F endorsement and a personal dependable vehicle toconduct community outreach and response. 
  • Maintaining a dependable vehicle andcertified driver status is a condition of employment.

Equipment/Technology

  • Basiccomputer skills required for timekeeping, email, and documentation in theelectronic medical record.

QUALIFICATIONS - KnoxCo-Response Clinician

Education: 

  • Must have at least a Master's degree in a health-related field ofcounseling, psychology, social work, sociology, addictions, or a behavioralscience field with course work or experience in the areas of culturaldiversity, human development, etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcoholand drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide, and intellectualdisability.
  • Candidates with a Master's degree in rehabilitation,occupational therapy, criminal justice, or education, must have fifteencollege-level semester hours of coursework in behavioral health and at leastone year of work experience in the behavioral health setting.

Experience / Knowledge

  • One yearexperience in the social work and addictions field and/or behavioral health andcriminal justice setting preferred.

Physical:

  • Minimalexposure to biological hazards.
  • Hearing of normal/soft tones and close eye work.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • CPR and First Aidcertification required (training provided).
  • Required to be certified in and adequately implement verbalde-escalation techniques.
  • Applicants should be able to exercise sound judgement under pressure.
  • Clinical staff may be required to get an F endorsement to transportclients as necessary.
