About the position:

We are seeking a driven Social Worker for the 2022-2023 school year that operates with a high sense of urgency and possesses a strong work ethic. Candidates for this position do NOT need to speak Hebrew. Our Schools are fully committed to a culturally diverse faculty and student body. The school is eager to consider applications from traditionally underrepresented groups.

Job Requirements:

  • Lead the school’s efforts in ensuring that students are emotionally supported through strength based, solution focused modalities
  • Contribute as needed to the development and implementation of the school’s social emotional learning program
  • Provide support to students and families related to student attendance, truancy, and excessive tardiness
  • Provide individual and group counseling to address academic, personal, and/or interpersonal challenges, for mandated students as per Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and for non-mandated students as needed. 
  • Work collaboratively with Principals, Administration, Special Education Team, Teachers, Staff and outside providers to help develop solutions to student, group, and school-wide issues
  • Coordinate services with external providers and link families to appropriate community resources as needed
  • Create programs for students and families to promote emotional and mental health
  • Response to day-to-day issues, crisis intervention, referrals, and case management services to student and families
  • Conduct home and community visits as needed to assess student and family needs
  • Offer resources available to families that promotes students’ academic, social, and emotional functioning 
  • Complete documentation, progress notes and reports as required by state, local and federal mandates and ethical responsibilities
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement meetings/workshops involving a variety of topics and personnel
  • Serve as liaison on child welfare issues and share expertise with school team
  • Attend regular staff meetings and professional development workshops
  • Provide workshops to school staff and parents on variety of areas relating to child social/emotional development
  • Participate in grade level and school-wide events
  • Is highly visible and present during school day
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ukrainian or Russian speaking is required
  • LMSW from an accredited institution is required, LCSW preferred
  • Hold NYS certification or working towards certification is preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience in a clinical setting
  • Experience in providing trauma-focused services is preferred 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in an urban school setting in which the students were selected by lottery and not by entrance exam or by discretionary criteria is preferred

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Salary and benefits will be highly competitive and commensurate with experience.

Clinical supervision for an LCSW will be provided
