As a Site Reliability Engineer, you’ll use your engineering skills to maximize reliability, availability, and efficiency of our systems, and improve workflow, automation, and scalability.

What is the work? 

Design & Development / IT: 

• Develops / maintains tooling used for environment monitoring and task automation 
• Engages in / improves whole lifecycle of services, including inception and design, deployment, operation, and refinement 
• Analyzes / establishes efficient configurations for software and servers, DB connections / indexes, drivers, etc. 
• Collaborates with development teams to design service architectures, software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and launch reviews 
• Collaborates with application engineering teams to perform chaos testing 
• Scales systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation; evolves systems by pushing for changes to improve reliability and velocity 
• Monitors internal and vendor service level objectives (SLOs) and agreements (SLAs); identifies / resolves SLO / SLA gaps 
• Serves as technical subject matter expert (SME) for cross-functional engineering Teams; assists with / troubleshoots systems-related issues and maintenance 
• Collaborates on maintaining services once they are live; measures / monitors availability, latency, and overall system health 
• Coordinates with technical / non-technical Partners and clients to determine business requirements 
• Practices sustainable incident response, blameless postmortems 
• Documents / promotes H-E-B standards and procedures 

What is your background? 

• A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience involving software / systems engineering 
• 4 years of experience programming in at least one of the following languages: Python, Java, Go, Rust and building and maintaining systems that support the life cycle of services 
• Experience designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed systems
