What the Role Is
The Financial Planning Analyst, reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager, while supporting Division Sales Manager(s), will perform analysis and reporting for the sales, marketing, and finance departments at Heaven Hill. This individual will be responsible for collecting, organizing, aggregating, forecasting and reporting sales division(s) level data, including pricing, programming, depletions, distribution, trends and budget-to-actual results for the company’s brands. This individual will also perform work on complex and non-routine projects, providing sales, marketing, and finance with informed recommendations for improving effectiveness and driving additional sales, revenues and customer satisfaction. This individual must be able to query data repositories, generating periodic reports as well as devise methods for identifying data patterns and trends in available information sources. This role delivers effective results by providing useful data and actionable conclusions and recommendations regarding customers, margins and market conditions.
How You Will Spend Your Time?
- Supporting the assigned sales division(s) in P&L management, data analysis, and business insights
- Pricing
- Develop knowledge of pricing and operational concepts specific to the alcoholic beverage industry
- Monitor company-wide pricing strategies
- Monitor and maintain the relevance and accuracy of all information in the pricing systems through routine audits
- Conduct, gather, analyze, and report on market-specific pricing surveys, and make pricing recommendations from this data, as applicable
- Monitor, collect, evaluate and distribute competitive pricing information for products in the assigned geographic markets
- Coordinate with distributor partners to obtain, input, analyze, and report on deal mix changes and their effect on overall margins
- Evaluate pricing related issues and participate in the development of action plans to correct deficiencies
- Train new and guide existing personnel concerning pricing matters within the organization and systems
- When applicable, utilize invoice level data to identify billing errors and margin erosion
- Depletions / Distribution
- Prepare monthly updates for field sales and distributors versus target calendar year and fiscal year goals
- Develop and monitor compliance with depletion allowance budgets
- Programming
- Utilize retail account data to develop target account lists
- Monitor and report on effectiveness of sales activity programs
- Divisional finance support, including revenue/profit management and reviewing appropriateness and accuracy of distributor chargebacks
- Perform special projects requiring complex data analysis and reporting
Who You Are…
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline
- Minimum two years’ work-related experience in business analysis, sales, or finance
- Previous experience in sales, marketing, financial or operational analysis, research, audit and problem solving
- Excellent critical thinking skills - using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
- Analytical skills, in particular gathering data from a wide variety of sources, and presenting it in formats suitable for a wide variety of audiences
- Ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with internal and external contacts, including corporate, field personnel, and distributors
- Must possess in-depth knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office tools and products including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access and ERP Systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills
