Job Summary:

The Wheelabrator Operator is responsible for operation and coordination of up to three machines and coordination of production throughout, material handling, cycle counting, penmanship and a high level of quality is required.

The Wheelabrator Operator is on the front lines, bridging the gap between the leaders, customers, and the production front lines who are the backbone of the Company. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-starter who is committed to be an integral part of the team. Status: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Overtime is available. The opening is on 2nd shift from 3 pm - 11 pm Sunday through Saturday. Must be available to work weekends. Afternoon and Midnight shifts differential pay provides the opportunity for extra income, in addition to overtime pay.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: The most important qualifications the right individual will possess are a strong work ethic, willingness to learn and grow, and physical strength and stamina. Producing a high- quality product, consistently and on-time is essential. This position includes manual labor - you may be lifting heavy metal parts and loading them into a shot blast machine, other containers, or an operating furnace, which means exposure to industrial environment and severe temperatures. You may be assisting the shift manager by instructing, directing and supervising others during your shift. You will also be on your feet for most of the day. You must be able to communicate clearly and in a respectful manner with co-workers and managers, and value working as a team.

· Must pass a drug screening, physical examination and background check

Educational/Technical Requirements:

High-school graduate or GED. Reading, writing, and math skills are essential to the job classification.

Job Summary:

The Wheelabrator Operator is responsible for operation and coordination of up to three machines. Coordination of production throughout, material handling, cycle counting, penmanship and a high level of quality is required to perform the following duties:

Job Duties:

· Clean parts per the specifications on the shop traveler.

· Cleans material as coordinated by Material Control and/or Plant Management team.

· Optimize efficiency of cleaning cycle times.

· Responsible for the promotion of preventive maintenance to the shot blast machines, in cooperation with the maintenance personnel.

· Responsible for the proper operation of the shot blast machines.

· Look and listen for unusual sounds coming from the shot blast machines.

· Prevent major repairs by telling maintenance immediately of a potential problem.

· Notify the Shift Manager of any needed repairs or malfunctions and enter the same in the shot blast machine problem log.

· Communicate any significant cleaning changes on the front of the traveler for the Quality & Production Departments.

· Make sure the shot blast machine has sufficient shot for cleaning parts.

· Keep an ample supply of shot, and notify the Shift Manager when the inventory is low.

· Check parts after cleaning to make certain they are free of scale and ready for shipment.

· Operator makes sure parts are not mixed.

· Make sure parts are replaced in customer’s tubs and all applicable tags are accurate and complete.

· Adhere to all shop traveler specifications, instructions, and Quality Alerts.

· Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

· Responsible for following the special instructions, memos, and shipping orders on the cleaning schedule board.

· Maintains a shipping order to make certain the parts are cleaned in the order of the scheduled shipping.

· Operator must weigh parts, when needed, in order to acquire an accurate count.

· Keep all screens at the back of the machines and at the shot curtain on top of the machines clean, and note down on the shot blast machine problem log as well as notify maintenance if any shot curtain is broken/ not complete.

· Empty hoppers behind machines daily, and trigger an extra purge when and where needed.

· Empty dust collectors daily.

· Complete ‘Forktruck Problem Log’ and notify shift manager when Hilo/Forktruck is not operating properly.

· Assist with the loading and unloading of trucks.

· Support production team and fill in as needed; including sorting, stacking and/or furnace loading and unload of parts when needed.

· And all other related duties

Interaction:

To maintain a good personal relationship with management and co-workers. Transfer of information from shift to shift is critical so co-worker has the knowledge of the work in process.
