Job Title: School Psychologist
Position Type: Full-Time/Part-Time
Reports To: Director of Special Education/School Principal
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and empathetic School Psychologist to join our educational team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in assessing students' psychological and educational needs, developing intervention strategies, and providing support to enhance students' learning and social-emotional development. This role requires collaboration with teachers, parents, and school administrators to create a supportive learning environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Assessments: Conduct psychological and educational assessments to evaluate students' cognitive, emotional, and social development.
Intervention Development: Design and implement intervention strategies to address students' learning and behavioral challenges, promoting positive outcomes.
Counseling: Provide direct support to students through individual and group counseling sessions to address emotional, social, and academic concerns.
Crisis Intervention: Offer immediate support and intervention during school crises or emergency situations, ensuring student safety and well-being.
Collaboration with Educators: Work closely with teachers and school staff to integrate psychological principles and research into teaching practices and classroom management strategies.
Family Engagement: Engage with families to support students' learning and development at home and in school, facilitating connections to community resources when needed.
Professional Development: Maintain current knowledge of educational and psychological research, legal mandates, and best practices through ongoing professional development.
Program Evaluation: Participate in the evaluation of school programs and interventions to ensure effectiveness and compliance with state and federal regulations.
Qualifications:
Master's or Specialist degree in School Psychology from an accredited program.
Valid Michigan School Psychologist certification or eligibility to obtain certification upon hire.
Experience working in a school setting is preferred but not required.
Strong knowledge of psychological theory, child development, and educational psychology.
Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
Proficiency in conducting assessments and interpreting data.
Commitment to ethical practice in accordance with the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) standards.
