In this position, you’ll play an active role in the design and development of features for our cloud-based commercial tax software product. You’ll work on a distributed team of software developers, as well as collaborate with our quality assurance, project management, and product management teams.
Location: This role can sit in our offices in either Chicago or Buffalo Grove, Illinois; Dallas-Fort Worth; or Wilmington, Delaware, all of which include flexible and hybrid work options. This can also be a remote work opportunity.
TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS
At least five years of software design and development experience
At least five years of experience with the following tools C#, .NET, ASP.NET, LINQ, JavaScript/Typescript, Angular/React, CSS, Visual Studio/VS Code, Git/Team Foundation Server, Windows Server, IIS, MS SQL Server
Cloud and services experience, with Azure highly desirable
Front-end technologies experience such as React is desirable
Experience with Microservice based architecture is desirable.
Demonstrated experience building and running services at scale using modern DevOps practices.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Ability to program and work independently
Good verbal and written communication skills

DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate proactively with a distributed team, including developers, quality assurance, project management, and product management teams to deliver quality software in a fast-paced environment.
Participate in the daily standup to keep the team informed and on track.
Write quality code to create new features and resolve issues.
Peer review your colleagues’ code and suggest improvements. Testing is a shared responsibility, including unit test and integration test automation.
Remain up to date with cutting-edge technology and experiment with and learn new technologies, including recommending and implementing those technologies.
Meeting with technology managers to determine application and website requirements.
Upgrading existing .NET websites and applications.
Analyzing system requirements and delegating development tasks.
Developing technical specifications.
Writing scalable code for .NET software applications.
Reviewing and debugging .NET applications.
Providing support for junior developers.
Deploying functional websites, programs, and applications.
Drafting software and application operating procedures.
This is a versatile role that will require diving into many areas. Even if you don’t have the direct experience, you should be comfortable with uncertainty and be excited to learn.
