Job Summary and Qualifications
The Burn Registrar is responsible for data collection, both abstracting and analyzing, data entry, and data completion of the Burn patient population.
He / she is also responsible for data submission / distribution / report generation to / for the appropriate parties within the designated timeframe.
Communicates with burn service physicians in providing appropriate documentation for burn registry. This position assists with projects under the direction of the leadership in Burn Services.
This position is responsible for aspects of the Burn Registry to include data abstraction, data entry, ICD-10 coding, report generation and all state, regional and national downloads.
Works closely with the Burn coordinator and Burn service PI nurse to compile data for Burn Committee and Peer review. Assists in the preparation of documents for ABA / ACS Verification.
Supports the Burn Program to ensure ABA Verification by the American Burn Association is maintained.

What qualifications you will need :
- Licensure / Certification / Registration : ICD-10 and AIS Coding, CSTR(Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry) within two (2) years of employment.
- Education : High School graduate. Minimum of Associate Degree in health-related field or equivalent work experience of at least two years or with strong emphasis on data integrity and analysis is preferred.
Medical terminology is essential. Trauma / Burn experience, AIS / ISS, ICD-10 coding familiarity is highly recommended. Proficiency in utilizing computers is essential.
- Experience : Previous Registry / Report Writing experience preferred
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and / or Other Attributes : Demonstrates strong analytical skills; strong communication skills;
- excellent interpersonal skills; excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize requests and assignments;
self-directed with initiative to function independently as needed; computer skills in word processing; (Word, Excel, etc ) and data management.
Degree of Supervision Required :
Involves general guidance and direction by Supervisors and / or Department Manager. The employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
