Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our successful, environmental engineering firm. We are an employee-owned firm with over 1,500 people in over 50 locations across the country and abroad. Our range of services encompasses the planning, design, and construction management of water and wastewater-related projects – from clean water treatment, storage, and distribution to wastewater and stormwater collection, treatment, and reuse.
PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Handle accounting of (50 plus) office leases via LeaseCrunch software; issue monthly rent payments to landlords; maintain Master Lease Summaries, SOV and G/L account analyses of related accounts.
- Maintain depreciation schedule and backup documents.
- Bookkeeping of Joint Venture Accounts.
- Interact with insurance brokers and assist with insurance certificate requests.
- Work closely with the G/L team to support the month end and year end closing activities including general ledger review, account analysis, account reconciliations and journal entries.
- This is an evolving position; duties listed will be modified as time goes on.
- Interact with corporate audits and external auditors as needed.
- Participate in special projects as needed.
Qualifications
Education / Experience / Background
- BA/BS degree in Accounting required.
- 3 to 5 years of accounting experience required.
- Corporate and/or multi-subsidiary experience preferred.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong proficiency with MS Excel
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and stringent deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work well with others and independently.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Knowledge of Deltek VantagePoint is a plus.
