Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation is Hiring a Chief Compliance Officer Near Center City, MN

Responsibilities

The Chief Compliance Officer and Senior Regulatory Counsel works collaboratively with Foundation management to ensure ethical business practices that uphold the Foundation's long history of excellence and integrity. This position is a member of the Senior Leadership team, reporting administratively to the Chief Legal Officer with functional reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and to the Audit and Compliance Committee of the Board of Trustees.

This position works closely with the Corporate Risk Officer on the implementation of the Foundation’s Enterprise Risk Management program and with the Information Security Manager on the execution of the Foundation’s Cybersecurity Risk Management program.

  • Work diligently to foster a culture and climate of integrity by promoting adherence to ethical and compliant decision-making and behavior.
  • Partner with business leaders to support all employees and Board of Trustees regarding compliance with laws, regulations, and corporate policies through strategic development, training initiatives, communications / awareness, and conformance with regulations in all matters of business.
  • Monitors compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Provide direction and oversight of staff assigned to maintain Joint Commission accreditation and state licensure at Hazelden Betty Ford facilities.
  • Serve as Hazelden Betty Ford’s expert on compliance with federal and state Medicare and Medicaid program requirements.
  • Oversee internal investigations or alleged violations of ethics and compliance standards. Review internal compliance and investigation reports.
  • Coordinate and support corporate monitoring of billing practices in order to prevent, detect, and correct instances of fraud, waste, and abuse.
  • Serve as internal legal counsel for healthcare regulatory and transactional matters, healthcare transactions (including overseeing due diligence, participation in negotiations, preparing and reviewing transaction documents). Demonstrate knowledge of applicable laws and regulations including research and interpreting of emerging regulatory matters.
  • Serve on enterprise and operational level project teams.
  • Chair the Compliance and Ethics Committee.
  • Responsible for preparing and presenting clear and concise reports to the Board of Trustees and Executive Leadership regarding risks, requirements, ethics and compliance issues or activities.
  • Assure a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, guests, and visitors.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Law degree from an accredited law school
  • Active, unrestricted license to practice law in the state of Minnesota; eligible to obtain in-house status in other states
  • High level of computer skills, including ability to work in all Microsoft Office programs
  • Minimum 10 years of prior experience working in healthcare compliance, with direct experience in Fraud, Waste and Abuse, HIPAA and consumer privacy laws, as well as Stark and
  • Anti-Kickback Statute regulations
