Responsible to the Corporate Controller, the Accounting Manager manages staff and all functions of the accounting department, which includes general accounting (journal entries, fixed assets, cash, prepaids, accruals, lease accounting, cost accounting & inventory), accounts receivable, accounts payable, tax reporting and filing, monthly financial reporting, and annual financial audit.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - ACCOUNTING (70%):

  • Facilitates strong communication and coordination with other areas of the company and works with various third parties (bankers, vendors, customers, auditors, etc.).
  • Prepares various financial, operational, and KPI analyses for the company to monitor and improve efficiencies.
  • Prepares and reviews journal entries timely.
  • Protects company assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Protects company operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - MANAGEMENT (30%):
  • Manages and coordinates all functions of accounting operations to ensure timely, accurate and complete recording of financial transactions. 
  • Monitors and advises company management of the company’s cash position and requirements.
  • Directs and coordinates all financial operations such as financial statements, closings (monthly, quarterly & annual) tax filing, tax savings opportunities and other related accounting activities.
  • Supervises, trains, evaluates, and performs coaching development for accounting team members. Ensures that each accounting function has a backup in the event of absences.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develops and maintains financial and management information systems. This includes protecting, examining, and evaluating existing systems, developing new methods, and insuring proper disposal of records.
  • Assists with ERP implementation initiatives. 
  • Takes initiative and leads continuous process improvement initiatives. Must be a strong problem solver and consider upstream / downstream impact of process changes. 
  • Reconciles accounts and resolves reconciling items timely.
  • Performs all duties and maintains all standards in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Regular attendance is required for the position.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent education.
  • Public accounting experience and CPA license required.
  • Seven (7) years general accounting, including three (3) years supervisory experience.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Accountable and adaptable, must consistently meet deadlines and help team prioritize deliverables and deadlines. 
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP accounting, tax regulations, and reporting procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of all accounting functional areas – general ledger (journal entries, cash, fixed assets, prepaid, accruals, lease accounting), accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement, cost accounting and inventory, etc.
  • Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Visio); and other applicable applications. 
  • PC skills; Advanced in Microsoft Excel, VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Formulas, etc.
  • Great Plains experience a plus.
  • Cost Accounting experience a plus.
  • ERP implementation experience a plus.
