Havana Central Restaurant is Hiring a HR Administrative Assistant Near New York, NY

The Human Resources Assistant will perform a variety of administrative duties and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s human resource department. The individual in this role will support the HR team with both human resource related and administrative related responsibilities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Provides clerical administrative support to the Human Resources department.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of files and records.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resources files, records, and documentation.
  • Assists with questions from employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to senior-level HR or management.
  • Support HR with entering, updating, uploading and maintaining HR Files, database, employee records (contact information, vaccination status, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, terminations, etc), into the HRIS (Paycom), in compliance with HR regulations.
  • Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Review incoming mail and handles selected correspondence (verification of employment or income) and shares other correspondence with Director, Human Resources.
  • Conduct new hire background checks and other screening processes as needed; forward results to Director of HR and or HR and Jeremy Merrin, Founder.
  • Updating and maintaining employment benefits status, administration,(Health, Life and Teladoc) and similar records. Perform payroll/benefit-related payroll and billing reconciliations.
  • Process documentation and prepare reports relating to personnel activities (staffing, recruitment, training, performance evaluations, terminations, etc).
  • Assist HR Team with creating policies, process and customized HR Forms and documents using MS Office Suite and Adobe Professional.
  • Assist with management of employment labor/poster and notice compliance requirements
  • Assist and provide when needed support with recruiting functions such as job fairs, virtual events, shortlist candidates and schedule job interviews.
  • Assists with coordination of special HR projects and events such as employee surveys, benefits enrollment, employee engagement, and employee rewards and recognition events.
  • Track HR birthdays and anniversaries
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus, restaurant industry experience preferred.
Education and Experience:
  • Associate’s degree in business or related field preferred.
  • Prior related office and HR Assistant experience in a Restaurant/Hospitality environment.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
