Hastings Manufacturing is Hiring a Supervisor - Second Shift Near Hastings, MI

Description

Position Summary (Mission):

This position supervises employees in a precision, metal working manufacturing environment - machining, processing and assembly. Plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. This position is responsible for front line coordination of the Company’s efforts toward a safe working environment. Ensure all activities are within the confines of company policies, procedure, values, and labor agreements.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: (Duties include but are not limited to):

1. Supervise, plan, schedule, and coordinate departmental activities to fulfill sales orders, meet inventory requirements, and deliver manufactured products in a timely fashion.

2. Ensure effective employee relations. Provide employee coaching and development.

3. Handle basic discipline and recommend final step disciplinary actions.

4. Resolve employee issues through problem resolution.

5. Balance safety, quality, productivity, cost, 5S and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Work to continuously improve in all areas.

6. Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports to employees and management.

7. Directs weekly KPI meetings according to established standards.

8. Immediately report incidents and accidents in work area. Provide basic first aid as needed. Assist in accident reporting and investigations.

9. Ensure area employees receive and complete required training in a timely manner.

10. Ensure time-keeping duties are completed on time and accurately.

11. Work to increase employee skills and capabilities through current company procedures, performance reviews and coaching.

12. Must be able to assist team in improving our systems of production control, standard operating procedure, safety, quality control, 5S and performance management.

13. Participate in meetings, discussions and other company functions to ensure strong employee relations.

14. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education, Skills & Experience Required:

2. Must have strong leadership skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills.

3. Must be able to plan ahead, develop action plans, manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.

4. Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment.

5. Record of accomplishing assignments on time.

6. Participant in employee hiring, development, retention, performance review and discipline.

7. Strong application of performance to goals and standards.

8. Strong attention to quality and detail.

9. Prior experience and proven results in problem analysis and resolution.

10. An understanding of Inventory Management.

11. Prior experience in a union environment preferred.

12. High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.

13. Minimum of 5 to 10 years of progressive manufacturing experience to include prior Supervisory or Team Leader responsibilities preferred.

14. Prior experience in lean manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma or continuous improvement processes is required.

15. Must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications.

16. Must be computer literate in shop floor control, production planning, and inventory control applications.

17. After hire, ongoing education/training sufficient to maintain current technology and methodology is required – including CPR/First Aid certification will be required.

18. Thorough understanding of OSHA and other relevant safety regulations and practices (Lockout/Tagout, HazCom, Evacuation Plans, etc.).

19. Demonstrated ability to conceive, develop and implement cost savings efforts and capital investment projects.

20. Must have a hands-on leadership style.

21. Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
