Harvard Partners, LLP, Trusted Advisors to IT is Hiring a Scrum Master Near Boston, MA

 As the Scrum Master, you will be someone that loves empowering teams to deliver customer value faster and more efficiently. Someone that believes that teamwork is the way to ensure the right solutions are found for the customer. You consider yourself a team player and self-starter ready to support our growing community of engineering, product, and quality assurance teams.
Responsibilities
  • Understands Agile values and principles and can guide and coach teams, and organizations on how to use Agile/Scrum practices
  • Provides support to the Product Owner and Development Team, and leads by example. You should personify Scrum and Agile values
  • Guides and coaches delivery teams to self-organize and achieve objectives, without assigning or dictating the work Mobilize new teams, in partnership with an Agile coach, to Agile practices and values.
  • Facilitates all Agile ceremonies efficiently to help the team realize the value of the meetings.
  • Facilitates discussion, decision-making, and conflict resolution. Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised and resolved Work effectively with management and team members to clarify needs and plan the delivery of major product changes, future versions, and new products
  • Works to proactively manage risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies, ensuring that they are identified, coordinated, mitigated, or escalated as necessary.
  • Works with the Product Owner and Development Team to facilitate effective sprints by removing impediments and ensuring that stories are ‘sprint ready’
  • Reviews current agile processes demonstrate servant leadership while guiding the team to improve their processes while challenging them to innovate
  • Helps foster an environment that empowers and energizes team members, with a focus on accountability, adaptability, and collaboration.
  • Contributes to building a culture where continuous improvement is in focus
  • Continually grow skills to enhance your expertise and help the business grow
  • Assists with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and information radiation
Qualifications
  • CSM or equivalent certification
  • A clear understanding of Agile methodologies, values, and procedures
  • Possesses great leadership skills to motivate scrum teams to perform at their best
  • Good skills and knowledge of facilitation techniques, servant leadership, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Experience with Agile PLM tools like JIRA, Rally, VersionOne, etc.
  • Understanding of backlog tracking, Scrum and Kanban-based metrics, task definition, and story splitting.
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills
  • Experience in sprint & release planning, running demos and retrospectives
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and strong reasoning skills as well analytical and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Skills/Experience (Any of these are a plus)
  • Professional experience in the financial services industry is a plus
  • Bachelor’s in computer science, management information systems, or related disciplines
  • 1-2 years of experience with agile methodologies such as SAFe, Scrum, and Kanban
  • Experience being on multiple Scrum teams in a variety of different contexts (diverse team sizes, organizations, cultures, co-located vs. distributed, etc)
  • Track record of continued and recent education in Scrum, including training, conferences, user groups, self-study, etc.
  • Knowledge of other approaches discussed in the Agile space: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc
  • Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
  • Applicable knowledge of the technologies used by the team
